Davali in Newport Boat Show

I have been getting to know Davali better and better over the past two summers. Enjoying Davali with friends and family, but also loving singlehanded sailing.

Kent Grimbeek of Just Catamarans and I sailed to the show. Kent is not just an excellent broker and service expert, he’s also a very experienced sailor.

The wind kept building as we approached Point Judith. We decided to blow past Newport and head to Menemsha, Martha’s Vineyard for some fantastic fresh chowder and lobster rolls. The wind was just too good to waste.

It was a beautiful and spontaneous sail, several years in the making. I bought Davali because I wanted a change after years of monohull sailing. I also hoped to shorten the time to reach destinations like Block Island, Newport, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket, etc.  This fast sail was especially gratifying.

Check out this short video where we hit twelve knots in sixteen knots of apparent wind.

We were in Newport by 10:40 am for the boat show set up.
